Hydrogen & Carbon

Meet our

Hydrogen

C2CAT develops and synthesises catalysts for LOHC applications.
LOHCs, Liquid Organic Hydrogen Carriers, are used as media for chemical storage of hydrogen. Because hydrogen is the lightest element in the universe, physical storage of hydrogen is difficult. It involves high pressures or cryogenic temperatures which are costly and unsafe. So chemical hydrogen storage on liquid media are very advantageous. Additionally, it minimises the need for infrastructure change.

Before & After

Hydrogen stored chemically inside an LOHC fitting inside a canister. Decreasing volume of hydrogen by storing hydrogen inside LOHC

And this molecule is a “Hydrogen fuel”!

So it will just need to be transported to where hydrogen is needed. Hydrogen inside a simple oil canister is released: this time via a catalytic dehydrogenation reaction. At C2CAT, we have deep expertise in synthesizing LOHC catalysts. Our catalysts can store and release hydrogen effectively via catalytic hydro- and dehydrogenation reactions.

Meet our

Carbon

At C2CAT we develop nano-structures for carbon dioxide conversion into green chemicals. Carbon dioxide is a huge industrial waste and is regarded as “environment hazard”. It can be captured directly from air or from industrial effluents and transformed into valuable chemicals. This way we produce chemicals via green and sustainable chemical routes. C2CAT’s catalysts are application-specific and selective to the desired end-product.
